NEW: Shirley at S & S Tours had to switch cruises when there wasn’t enough time to sell this one Sorry all! She is choosing another cruise for April and I’ll jump on that one. If you are interested in going with me just stray tuned and we’ll get there – promise! The cruises we’ll be involved with are being offered by our friends at S & S tours of Mt. Dora.
Our final tour of 2013, we are traveling close to home, Orlando’s Leu Gardens! To experience an interesting bit of Florida history, we’re going during Christmas to enjoy the tour of the farmhouse, restored with period furnishings and gorgeously decorated for the holidays. This holiday season, take a stroll through the Leu House Museum decorated for the holidays. Each year the Historic home, once resided in by Harry P. Leu is decked out for the holidays by designers from Seminole State College’s Interior Design Students. Each room has a different design theme ranging from Victorian to American Colonial to Funky Retro. Throughout the historic home, you will enjoy beautiful holiday accessories and trees decked with traditional ornaments. Fun and amazing miniatures from Ron’s Miniature Shop & Museum will be on display throughout the Museum. After Leu, we’ll head on over to our Panera lunch in Winter Park (this is included!) before spending the afternoon shopping, strolling, talking the scenic boat ride on the chain of lakes, or perhaps enjoying the Morse Museum’s Tiffany Collection. As we depart this area in later afternoon we’ll be sure to be on the lookout for holiday light displays too!
This trip has 15 seats open at $59 and will only pick up at Ormond Beach Bealls on Granada. Due date is open, however please realize all holiday trips are filling up fast! Christmas in Leu Gardens59
This trip is cancelled however…some of us are still going by car. If you would like to join us, meet at Winter Park’s Central Park – next to the AMTRAK station at 4:00 p.m on December 5th. We’ll rendezvous at that point and show you where we are sitting – for you to set up your beach chair. Call to confirm your participation so we know who to look for on that evening, It’s going to be a great time!
Be warm! We’ll be going north a few hours where the weather is a little cooler. Savannah weather forecast: Mid-50′s for highs, and high 30′s for lows. Be prepared by bringing warmer clothes and comfortable, warm shoes. Not sandals! You might even consider a scarf if you are someone who feels the chill more than others. I expect to be in Savannah by noon -1 p.m., and checked into our wonderful hotel before we take a guided trolley tour through this lovely city. Don’t forget your cameras! I am looking forward to three great days away on vacation with a fun group of clients – that’s you! So let’s have some fun…. it’s holiday time now!
During a reconnaissance mission this week to the southwest region of Florida, I had the opportunity to spend an evening at the Inn on The Lake in Sebring. It was a wonderful experience – beautiful hotel, welcoming staff, delicious breakfast and comfortable beds – all while enjoying Lake Jackson out my window. Check out Trip Advisor if you want their reviews – but it was just a great place to stay and I’m looking forward to taking you back with me! Sebring, in the south central region of our state, is home to the Sebring International Raceway, best known as the host of the 12 Hours of Sebring, an annually held American Le Mans Series race. Highlands Hammock State Park is also in the area, as well as the historic downtown district to stroll and shop. I plan on stopping off at this small Florida city on our way through to the Everglades in the Spring next year, and was just generally checking through the area to see what we could do besides the obvious. I’m looking forward to seeing you in this quaint city too! More on my visit to Bradenton soon!
